Welcome to February release notes! The month was short, but that didn't stop us from shipping some truly awesome features, so let's get to it.
Recently, you may have seen a Logikcull app in Slack and thought, “What a coincidence. I know a Logikcull. But it can’t be the same one… What could they be doing here in Slack?”
Coincidences do happen. One time my sister and I both unintentionally ignored Orlando Bloom to his face in the same week (I will not be taking questions).
But this is no coincidence. We now have a Legal Hold app in Slack!
That’s right! With Logikcull, you can now send legal holds through Slack, email, or both, and custodians can confirm directly in Slack. Check it out:
You might assume that Slack is a less secure method of communication than email. After all, your work email is surely encrypted and protected six ways from Sunday and Slack can feel a bit too... casual.
That’s actually a common misconception, like that Tom was the first Hanks to play Mr. Rogers. The truth is, since your IT team has to grant permission to users to gain access to your company’s Slack workspace, it’s highly unlikely that a Slack message is spam or a concealed phishing attempt. Email, on the other hand, is Phish City (aka Burlington, Vermont).
Plus, the ease of sending and accepting holds in Slack increases compliance rates while dramatically decreasing the time it takes to get full compliance (and the amount of times your legal team has to chase you to open that suspicious email you’ve been ignoring). Just ask Albert Lee, paralegal at Plaid, who sat down with us recently to discuss how his new and improved legal holds process through Logikcull saved him hours of work and got him 100% compliance in no time:

Logikcull Preserve
Back in December, we wrote about a feature in place for upload-only user roles, called Upload-Only Preserve. This allowed subscription customers to store unlimited data that had been uploaded by upload-only users at no additional cost. This increased security for that data by keeping it all in one secure location and reduced storage costs for users. Pretty good deal, right?
Well, we don’t like to settle for “pretty good.” We’re more of a “world-class” organization. Which is why we’re excited to announce that Logikcull Preserve is now available to across the board for subscription users — regardless of user type!
That’s right. If you’re a subscription customer, you can now upload and store unlimited data in Logikcull at no additional cost before you start processing it for discovery.
If you use this feature, you can decide if your documents get automatically processed upon ingestion. It’s up to you when to process each data upload and start culling and reviewing your files. All you have to do to send data to Logikcull Preserve is uncheck the “Schedule this upload to process immediately” box when creating your upload.
Then, when you’re ready to start reviewing, just go to your uploaded files and click “Start Processing.”

Automatically Add Redaction Labels to PII
“Redaction” is more than just the clever name of one of our wines. It’s also a necessary and sometimes painful step in the eDiscovery process.
Other than subjecting you to that meme, we try to take as much pain out of redactions as possible with features like redaction labels. Logikcull also automatically detects PII in your documents and gives you the option to redact it all. Those two features go together like peanut butter and chocolate, so we decided to combine them!

Now, users can apply a PII label to all of their PII redactions in one of 2 ways:
Click “redact” and select the label to apply from the dropdown menu; or
Hold shift and click “redact” to automatically apply the last redaction label that was used.
If you’re one of those people who’s “not into labels,” don’t worry: This is totally optional. You can redact with or without a label.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
Ever tried to add multiple Slack zip files, only to have the process fail? Well, that’s because — as of now — you can’t actually add multiple Slack zips at the same time. Now, instead of the process mysteriously not happening, there's a warning that tells you it’s not allowed. We hate saying “no” to you all, but sometimes it’s necessary.
When a Logik Admin clicks “Save” when enabling SSO for a customer account, an email will now be sent to the account owner and applicable admins, including details on how to finish setting up SSO. Stay in the know!
Used to be that if you attempted to create a large quick PDF download with a large page count and selected the “unify” option (combining all pages into a single PDF), it could take many days to create and still ultimately not work. It would also create PDFs so large they were likely not much use anyway. Logikcull now detects when a quick PDF download exceeds a certain reasonable page count, and disables the “unify” option.
