How do I set up Multi-Factor Authentication?

Secure your Logikcull account by enabling Two Factor Authentication (2FA), downloading backup codes, and setting org-wide login policies

Setting up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Click on your profile picture on the navigation bar to go directly to your User Profile.
Look for the Two-Factor Authentication section and click on "Enable."

You can then set up either an SMS text message authentication or app-based authenticator.

After selecting a method, you will need to enter your Logikcull password, followed by the authentication code provided by either method.

Once validated, Two-Factor Authentication is now enabled for your login.


Generating and Downloading Backup Codes

⚠️ You have the option to generate backup codes (just in case!) and add a fallback SMS number in the event you lose your device or are unable to access it.
This is highly recommended!

Setting Account-Wide Login Policies

If you are an Account Owner, you can require Two-Factor Authentication for all users in your account by going to the Preferences section of your Account Settings page and enabling Two-Factor Authentication for the Account.

NOTE: If you've lost your device used for Two-Factor Authentication (and do not have access to your temporary recovery codes), but need Two-Factor Authentication re-enabled on a new device, please chat with our support team and provide the following information:

  1. Your user account email address

  2. A fallback number that receives SMS messages, so that we may send you a one-time code to have this reset

What is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (a type of multi-factor authentication) is a method of providing more secure access to web sites and applications than can be achieved with a standard single-password system. Rather than requiring a single password, two-factor authentication allows you to provide a secret code that is unique each time you log in. This code can be provided either via an SMS text to a phone, or via an authentication app for your smartphone.

Why use Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication helps keep you and your data safe and secure. With two-factor authentication enabled, a hacker who managed to steal your username and password would be stopped at the front door without a way to get past the second authentication. With over 65% of people using the same password for everything, having a secondary password available exclusively to you could be the difference between a great day at work and a very, very bad one.

What do I need to use Two-Factor Authentication?

A phone that can receive SMS messages and/or a iOS/Windows/Android smartphone are all you need to get two-factor authentication enabled for your account today.

What if I choose not to use Two-Factor Authentication?

You will not be able to access any accounts that are now requiring two-factor authentication. However, you will immediately regain access in the future if you do enable two-factor authentication for your account.

I have SSO (single sign-on) set up internally and need to enforce Two-Factor Authentication for external users. Will my internal users be forced to use Two-Factor Authentication in this case?

If you enforce account-wide Two-Factor Authentication for the account, it will not be enforced for SSO users. Internal users can disable this feature still have access to the account by virtue of SSO.
